TAJNO BIAV ("Secret Marriage") is the name of the second release of the Polish-Ukrainian group Čači Vorba. And it does sound like a secret gypsy wedding – cheerful dance music, melancholic love songs and wistful a cappella ballads, arranged in a virtuoso manner and presented on the highest musical level.
Maria Natanson, lead singer and violinist of Čači Vorba has been described as "the most important voice of the Polish world music scene in recent years" and confirms this appreciation on the new album impressively. Aged 14, Natanson left the classical music school and her parents' house, heading for the mountains. There she learned the traditional music of the Carpathians and the Balkans from local musicians and evolved her artistry.
Her band mates Paweł Sojka, Robert Brzozowski, Lyubomyr Ishchuk and Piotr Majczina, who is also responsible for the arrangements, inspire with emotional and virtuoso playing. The multi-instrumentalists and multi-stylists of Čači Vorba rearrange traditional music originally and in a varied manner. They both express the boundlessness of music and the actuality of impassionately treated tradition.
